10 Foods to Avoid If You Have Joint Pain

Joint pain is an uncomfortable situation that can cause swelling and inflammation and can happen to anybody no matter of age or gender. This kind of problem can have different symptoms and the pain can go from mild to severe. That is what separates joint pain into acute and chronic pain.

This can happen due to strained muscles, gout, arthritis, dislocated bones, bursitis, fibromyalgia, leukemia and lupus.

Surprisingly enough the food you eat can help you reduce the pain and discomfort. Ginger, turmeric and garlic are the number one types of food that can treat joint pain.

These type of meats contain a lot of chemicals like nitrites and purines. They can cause inflammation and increase pain. According to different studies the consumption of red meats and processed meats can increase the risk of cancer and tumor growth and also cause inflammation due to the substances called glycation.

  1. Refined And Artificial Sweeteners

High amounts of added and processed sugars can increase the substance cytokyne that increases inflammation. A lot of refined sugars in the diet are unnecessary and can cause severe weight gain and even obesity and that can put extra pressure on the body and joints. Sugar in any form can do a lot of harm to the body and the consumption of them has to be limited. Try to find a healthier substitute for sugar like stevia, honey or blackstrap molasses.

The amount of casein in milk products can aggravate inflammation and this type of protein can also affect and irritate the tissue around the joint. Instead of dairy products try to switch to different alternative when suffering from joint pain like soy milk, almond milk, tofu or margarine.

Corn oil is full of omega 6 fatty acids that can trigger inflammation and pain. Other foods that are infused with this omega 6 is sunflower, grapeseed, oil ,mayonnaise and safflower. Try to avoid these foods because they can induce many other inflammatory diseases.

Of course omega 6 fatty acids are important for the body so when you have joint pain try to consume these foods in moderation and stay focused in increasing the omega 3 fatty acids in your body.

They are high glycemic index foods that can stimulate inflammation and increase pain. The excessive daily consumption of whole grains and wheat products can result in chronic inflammation, autoimmune diseases, degenerative diseases, cancer, diabetes and heart issues. Most of the times these foods contain empty calories and cannot provide you with enough fiber and necessary nutrients.

Eggs, especially the yolk part contains arachidonic acid and that can cause inflammation and pain in the body and joints. They also contain saturated fat that can make the whole situation worse. Try to use only the egg whites in order to rid yourself of inflammation and join pain.

Due to gluten and casein, whey protein can cause inflammation and further joint pain. Casein can lead to too much uric acid and that can lead to gout and cause severe join pain and inflammation.

A high sodium diet is not recommendable even when you are healthy. The regular table salt can be very bad when it comes to joint pain. Excessive amounts of beer and alcohol in general can increase and add the risk factor of joint pain and inflammation. Beer specifically is high in purines that is later transformed into uric acid that we all know leads to gout and inflammation. Limit the intake of beer and alcohol beverages in general.
