3 Best Drink Against Constipation

As we said you may need to do some experimentation to find the amount that’s right for you, but as a general rule for adults, a full 8 oz. glass of prune juice will prompt the best results. It is recommended to not ingest prune juice daily unless directed by a doctor. Instead, turn to raw fruits and vegetables and a proper amount of fiber every day to keep your system regular. This leads to a healthy lifestyle, but also a healthy colon that makes bowel movements easy.

What Could Cause Constipation?

Constipation can be of different kinds. Occasional constipation, chronic constipation, travel-related or age-related constipation. Besides travel, age and pregnancy related constipation, the others can be triggered by any of the following factors:

1. Change in diet – You might be eating more greasy food than usual or may have started a new weight-loss program, any change in your diet could trigger the odd bout of constipation. There are certain foods that can also bring this on: high-fat or processed food, alcohol or even too much caffeine.

2. Lack of Fluids – On days that you don’t drink enough water you might be constipated. Also note that artificial beverages don’t count as fluids because they actually trigger constipation instead of driving it away.

For those of you who usually dismiss constipation as an occasional visitor, our advise would be ‘don’t! Recently, a 2015 study pointed out that the number of people reporting to U.S. emergency rooms for constipation has been going up. And so has the cost of those visits, which reached $1.6 billion in 2011. Doesn’t sound so trivial anymore, does it? And in the long run, these symptoms could get far worse: You could develop hemorrhoids, rectal prolapse and even anal fissures.

Constipation is manifested by reducing the number of relieves, their hardness and difficult bowel movement. The causes are usually changes in common, everyday lifestyle (travel, temporarily moving, overflowing meals), and some drugs (eg, sedatives or medicines to treat acid) or diseases such as diabetes, cancer, irritable colon syndrome, multiple sclerosis, etc. It is also frequent during pregnancy.

We give you a homemade recipe to help you relieve that unpleasant stomach problem.

1.Drink Against Constipation – Only 2 Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch of spinach leaves
  • 2-3 dl sour milk

How is this remedy against constipation prepared?

Choose good, young, fresh spinach.

Remove the stems from the leaves and wash the leaves.

Place the leaves in a blender.

Add 200 -300 ml of yogurt

Mix well.

Drink one cup of this beverage in the morning and in the evening.

Drink a cup every morning and evening.

This will quickly stimulate the digestive system to function correctly.

2.Apple Juice

Apple juice isn’t effective against constipation simply because it contains sorbitol. As a liquid, it facilitates the movement of material through your intestinal tract and helps generate soft, bulky stools easier to pass. This helps explain why people who drink plenty of fluids are less likely to become constipated to begin with.

An 8-ounce glass of apple juice contains just over 1 gram of sorbitol, according to the Baylor College of Medicine. Peach juice provides almost twice that amount, while pear juice supplies four times as much. Ounce for ounce, prune juice is about 25 times higher in sorbitol than apple juice.

3.Prune Juice

Because prune juice is high in both soluble and insoluble fiber it can help both in scouring the colon walls to keep them clean (insoluble fiber) and also in raising the water level of stools to promote their prompt evacuation (soluble fiber). If prune juice has not been part of your regular dietary intake up to now you may have to do some trial and error to find the right amount to relieve your constipation. But be patient. Prune juice is not the kind of remedy that will work in an hour or two.
