Is it possible that pesticides are contained in every product we buy? As if it wasn’t enough that we breathe these toxins, and our children are exposed to toxic pesticides in schools. You should make huge efforts to avoid pesticides, and eat homegrown organic foods, and scrub the foods you buy before eating them. But, although we do everything we can, those nasty pesticides keep harassing us.
Latest research has shown that popular tea bags are packed with unhealthy levels of pesticides. Do you like Twinings, Tetley and Lipton tea?
CBC News reported about this investigation which included popular companies like:
- Lipton – Yellow Label Black Tea and Pure Green Tea
- King Cole
- No Name
- Red Rose
Uncle Lee’s Legends of China (Jasmine Green Tea and Green Tea)
Dry tea leaves were tested in accredited labs, and researchers employed the same technique as experts at the national Food Inspection Agency does.
About half of the samples contained dangerous amounts of pesticides. Believe it or not, 8 in 10 samples contained chemicals, and one of the brands was contaminated with over 22 different pesticides.
Monocrotophos and endosulfan are some of the pesticides in these samples. Some countries have banned these from use, as they harm the environment and workers who handle them.
Some of the tea bags contained traces of pesticides, while others were packed with harmful amounts that exceed the legal limits.
The best tea brand does not contain pesticides. We give you the brands that offer products filled with pesticides, so make sure you avoid them at any cost.
- King Cole is high in monocrotophos and other pesticides. It is about to be banned from use, as its use has been associated with irregular heart rate, coma, and involuntary defecation.
- Uncle Lee’s Legends of China (Green Tea) contains over 20 types of pesticides including endosulfan. Some countries have banned it, as it causes disorders of the nervous system, tremors, and even death.
- No Name contains over 10 pesticides.
This research caused unfriendly reactions in tea producers. James O’Young, vice president of Uncle Lee’s Legends of China, the brand with most pesticides, said that every brand contains a particular amount of pesticides. Here’s what he said:
“If you drink tea, regular tea, I don’t care it’s what brand is that, the fact of life, this agricultural product does have pesticides.”
He refused to confirm that Red Rose is the only brand that does not contain pesticides. This means that the tea is cultivated without the use of pesticides. O’Young is one of the many representatives who defend their companies in order to attract more customers.
Buy products from companies who sell pesticide-free products. Avoid No Name and Uncle Lee’s at any cost.
