Most of the people drink water when they are thirsty, it is a natural urge and should be attended as and when it occurs. One should keep these things in mind when it comes to water. Do not drink water before, during, and after the meal. Drinking water before the meals will weaken the digestive system through diluting the gastric juice. This is related to the strength of the digestive system. People who are prescribed to take meds before meals need to do that at least one hour before this and limit the quantity of water.
If you drink water once you finish your meal it will directly affect the food quality and the strength of the digestive system. No matter what food you take, water will work like a coolant on it. If you do this regularly, you will gain weight.
When should we drink water? Consume water 30 minutes after you finish your meal. This will provide you with a feeling of fullness and quench your thirst. In one or two hours you can drink as much water as you want because the digestion process will be over by this time. If you are not able to control your thirst and want to drink water between the meals, drink it in minimal amounts. Make sure it is at room temperature as chilled water can make digestive enzymes inactive, leading to build-up of toxic waste in the body.
